Pintu is a crypto assets platform for buying, selling, and managing Bitcoin and other crypto assets. Headquartered in Jakarta, Indonesia, the company has raised over $150M since its founding in 2020 and now counts over 6 million installs. With backers including Intudo Ventures, Lightspeed, Northstar Group, and Pantera Capital, Pintu is on a mission to accelerate the transition towards an open financial system and use blockchain technology to drive change in Indonesia.
Pintu came to Talon. One in 2022 to help reward users - and since then, our partnership has continued to develop. Currently, Talon. One supports Pintu with promotional capabilities such as distributing instant rewards, creating loyalty wallets, and developing other gamification campaigns. Talon. One’s scalable infrastructure has been key to helping get the right promotions to the right users, at the right time.
Talon. One’s APAC Sales Director Laurent Billieres spoke to Pintu’s Product Manager, Jofiandy Leonata Pratama about the promotional and loyalty features they’re using, what their tech stack looks like, the challenges that they’re facing, and what separates Talon. One from other software companies in their eyes.
Could you tell us a bit about your business?
Pintu is an Indonesian-based cryptocurrency platform geared towards first-time cryptocurrency users and investors. We offer customers an easy-to-use mobile app, through which they can trade over 120 cryptocurrencies, and also access education on cryptocurrency and blockchain through our Pintu Academy and Pintu News programs.
What channels are you leveraging for growth and retention at the moment?
We rely on Talon. One for a variety of campaign applications, from customer acquisition to retention efforts. This has helped us make internal processes more effective and efficient and reduces room for human error. We use several channels to carry out our campaigns, including:
Webhook effects
We take advantage of Talon. One’s webhook effects for our Rule Engine campaigns, including features used at the acquisition phase such as sign-up and referral initiatives, as well as conversion campaigns like Know Your Customer (KYC) and First Trading promotions. Using webhooks means we can allocate incentives in the form of crypto tokens to qualified users.
Giveaways
Staking refers to locking cryptocurrency to get rewards. We use Talon. One’s giveaway capability to reward Pintu Stakers with redeemable voucher codes that they can use on affiliated partner platforms.
Talon. One’s giveaway feature: To create such promotions in Talon. One you can use the giveaway, account-level entities that you can share among your applications. You can use this feature to create a pool of single-use codes and offer customers vouchers, gift cards, or discounts.
Coupons
We also use Talon. One’s coupon feature for many of our partnership-based acquisition campaigns: for example, users can buy event tickets on the Indonesian platform GoTix and earn vouchers, which they can then redeem with Pintu for crypto tokens.
How important is it for you to be able to iterate and run experiments on promotions?
Iterating on our promotions is hugely important, especially for our Marketing and Business Development teams, as it helps us understand the most efficient methods to enhance specific conversion funnels and determine which target markets or campaign styles yield the highest ROI. It’s also key to identifying the most effective target audiences for particular campaigns and pinpointing partners with the potential to attract the most users to our platform.
Can you tell us a bit about your marketing technology stack, and how it fits together?
We use a range of marketing tools in tandem with Talon. One to enhance the effectiveness of our campaigns. These solutions include:
Amplitude: Amplitude is essential during the initial phases of campaign development, as it helps us identify a campaign’s target audience. By examining user behavior through Amplitude, we gain a better understanding of which users are best suited for a specific campaign, ultimately enhancing its efficacy. We then apply this target audience data within the Talon. One Collection Feature, which helps us segment specific buckets of users per campaign.
Braze: Braze is our main communication instrument for engaging users in our campaigns. We utilize Braze to notify and engage with selected users about their eligibility and rewards for a specific campaign. This helps us foster user engagement, improves the overall user experience, and encourages retention on our platform.
How do you balance cost, features, building your own tools & future use cases for your marketing strategy?
Talon. One’s features support so many of our marketing & campaign needs. Creating our own tools can be hugely expensive in terms of time and manpower, so being able to easily plug in Talon. One to our platform through its API was a massive game-changer for us. This helped us allocate our resources more efficiently while ensuring that we remain competitive and agile with our promotions and loyalty strategy.
How important is support from those providers?
Post-integration support is very important when choosing a solution provider. Companies typically take into account aspects such as the provider's reputation and track record, the quality and suitability of their products and services, their pricing and value proposition, as well as the level of support and expertise they can provide.
Talon. One’s support is what sets it apart from other providers. Their team's knowledge and assistance have helped us overcome challenges and maximize our marketing investment. This level of commitment and expertise ensures that our team can use Talon. One's capabilities to the full to boost our campaign experiences. The exceptional support we have from Talon. One not only fosters confidence in their solutions but also contributes to building long-lasting, successful relationships with our customers.
What's your biggest challenge at the moment?
There are two big challenges we’re facing at the moment:
Industry challenge: One of the biggest challenges the crypto industry is dealing with is the anxiety over investing in crypto projects. The recent collapse of Luna and the issues faced by one of the largest exchanges, FTX, have added to this concern, resulting in a decrease in transactions on exchanges.
Company challenge: Due to the current climate in the industry, we’re continuing to prioritize creating resources that educate our users about the industry and enhance their understanding of potential risks and opportunities. Plus, we’re concentrating on improving our platform's usability, user experience, and product offerings to ensure that users have a positive and engaging experience when using our application for their crypto needs. By providing valuable information and a seamless user experience, we can establish trust with our users and encourage others to participate in the crypto market through our platform.
Is there any strategic project you're looking forward to?
We’re focusing on the launch of more campaigns to help our Marketing and Business Development teams grow our user base. Our aim is to acquire new users while improving user quality. To achieve this, we plan to expand the Rule Engine capabilities to stay ahead of the competition. We’re also planning to enhance our coupon code capabilities to run more acquisition campaigns.
